Waiver, Assumption of Risk and Hold Harmless Agreement

Waiver, Assumption of Risk and Hold Harmless Agreement: I understand that attendance at a dog training

class of any kind is not without risk to myself, members of my family or guests who may attend, or my

dog. I agree that I will abide by all safety rules and requests provided by Dog Nerd Dog Training

employees and representatives. I hereby waive all claims for damage and release and forever discharge Dog

Nerd Dog Training employees, instructors, assistants, volunteers, and representatives from any and all

claims, damages, losses, or liabilities of any nature, for injury or damage which I, my dog, or my guests

may suffer in connection with my attendance or participation in training sessions, including specifically,

but not without limitation, any injury or damage resulting from the action of any dog. I expressly assume

the risk of such damage or injury when attending any training sessions or other function, or while on the

training grounds or the surrounding area thereto. I hereby agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless

Dog Nerd Dog Training and any other location, their employees, instructors, assistants, volunteers, and

representatives from any and all claims, damages, losses or liabilities, whatsoever arising out of or resulting

from (1) my presence at or participation in any training session or other function while at Dog Nerd Dog

Training or any other location or the surrounding areas thereto, (2) the presence at or participation by any

member of my family or any other person accompanying me to any training session or other function while

on the grounds or the surrounding area thereto and (3) any action by any dog, including my own. I

understand that the handler of this dog is responsible for controlling the dog at all times during the training

session or class, both during the training sessions and on the grounds where the training sessions are held.

A dog and handler may be removed from class at the instructor’s discretion should the handler be unable to

control the dog. There are no refunds or credits of fees after the class has been paid for.

Requirements:

At least one person of 18+ years must be in attendance and in control of the dog at all times.

Children 6 years and older are welcome to class with an adult. Please ensure that children do not

approach, pet, or feed any other dog in class.

*No one under the age of 18 is permitted to attend Reactive Rover classes.

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear. No backless shoes, flip flops, or heels.

To keep our flooring clean and in good condition, please bring clean indoor shoes and leave your

outdoor footwear in the designated areas in reception.

Arrive to class 5 to 10 minutes early.

Turn off cell phones, or put on silent. If you must take a call during class, please leave the training

area to do so.

Do not allow your dog to urinate inside the training facility. If your dog has a tendency to mark

indoors, please purchase a belly band or panties until the issue can be addressed in training. If an

accident happens, please alert a staff member immediately so the area can be cleaned.

Bitches in season are welcome to class, provided they are wearing panties. Please let your instructor

know when you arrive.

CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG!

Do not allow your dog to urinate or defecate on vehicles, the building, or any other structures. Our

lease depends on keeping the area clean! A bin and bags are available for your use in the parking

lot; bags and bins are located inside the building as well. A shovel is available to scoop up yellow

snow in the winter. This snow can be placed in the outdoor bin. If you need help cleaning up, or

notice messes someone else has made, please alert a staff member. IF YOUR

DOG URINATES OR DEFECATES ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY, AND YOU FAIL OR

REFUSE TO CLEAN IT UP, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY, AND WILL

NOT BE ALLOWED TO RETURN. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.

Cancellations

Cancellations may occur due to inclement weather, instructor illness, or other emergencies. You will

be notified of the cancellation, so please be sure we have current contact information. When a

cancellation occurs, your session will be extended.

Please note that we do not allow the use of punishment or force at our facility. We are happy to help

you to manage/change undesired behaviours while attending our classes or events. We do reserve the

right to remove a student (without refund) from the facility for inappropriate behaviour toward

dogs, other students, or our staff.

Low Enrollment Policy

All group classes require a minimum of 3 dogs for the class to take place. In the case of low enrollment,

you will be contacted by phone or email at lease 2 days prior to the first class. At that time you will be

offered a full refund, or the opportunity to transfer to another class.

What to bring to class

A healthy dog

(please review health requirements)

If your dog is sneezing, coughing, has diarrhea, or is otherwise ill, leave him at home, but come to

class to see what we’re doing for the week.

The proper equipment

Bring your dog on a properly fitted flat buckle collar, harness, or martingale collar, and a 4 to 6 foot

leash (no flexi-leads, or chain leashes, please)

A front clip harness is a great choice for dogs that haven’t learned to walk on a loose leash yet.

Food rewards

Bring a variety of high value treats precut into pea sized pieces. Soft treats are best, as they can be

swallowed quickly without much chewing. Some good choices are cooked leftovers (chicken, beef or

pork), wieners, lunch meat, cheese, freeze dried liver, or food rolls (such as Rollover or Natural

Balance). You can also use commercial treats, but be sure they’re nutritious, and not high in

sugar. Your dog’s regular kibble likely won’t be tempting enough for the distraction of class. Later,

when your dog is more experienced, you can use her meals for training. Bring more food than you

think you’ll need, as your dog is new to learning and will be distracted.

A hungry dog

Dogs respond better to training if they are a little bit hungry. Please don’t feed your dog right before

class.

A clicker

As a marker for clear communication!

Included in Beginner classes, and available for purchase at the facility.

A mat

Please bring a mat for Beginner classes, and Reactive Rover classes. A bath mat or kitchen mat are

good options.

Vaccination Records:

All dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations, or have current titres. Please bring vaccination records to

the first class for Beginner classes, and Reactive Rover classes. You may also include a copy with your

registration form.

A positive attitude! Come prepared, and ready to succeed!

*No flexi-leads, prong collars, choke collars, spray collars, or electric collars are

permitted at the facility, or on the grounds. If you feel you require these tools to

control your dog, please contact us before class, so we may assist you with equipment

options.

Health Requirements for all dogs attending the Dog Nerd facility

Dogs must be healthy, alert, and free from parasites and contagious diseases.

Please contact us, and do not attend, if your dog exhibits any of the following:

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Coughing and/or sneezing
  • Nasal and/or eye discharge
  • Ticks and/or fleas

Vaccination Requirements

Puppies under six months:

  • Minimum first set of core vaccines at least 7 days prior to attending first

class. Puppies must remain current with boosters, as per your

veterinarian.

Dogs over six months

  • Up to date Rabies, Parvo/Distemper vaccinations at least 7 days prior to

attending first class

* Current titres accepted.

* Please follow your veterinarian’s recommended vaccination schedule.

* The kennel cough vaccine is recommended, but not required.
